‘Venus’ has come to break up the old boys’ club!
The levels of testosterone in Company O have been high over the last 12 months as Andrew O’Connell, Nigel Goodwin, and Jason Robert Lester brought “Art” to Perth audiences. Who would have thought three grown men could fight so much over a white painting?
First at the Holmes à Court Gallery, then at Mossenson Galleries for Fringeworld, 2023, both Company O seasons of this award-winning play were sold out, the latter season being awarded a Fringeworld Award for the category of Theatre & Performance!
As the boys were strutting their stuff on stage, proud as peacocks as award-winning act-ORs,, little did they know that their humble stage manager, who had doted on them for months, was about to become a goddess!
Codey Finlay, said goddess, and Associate Artist at Company O, was soon after to be cast as the lead in Venus in Fur, Company O’s main-stage production for 2023 about a goddess who visits a sexist playwright to teach him a lesson or two about women! Tickets are already on sale for this unmissable production which will be performed at the very funky Fridays Studio, a New-York-loft-style photographic studio-warehouse in West Perth. (16-19 of November).
In other news, our Artistic Director, Andrew O’Connell, has been busy writing - not plays for the moment but short stories. His latest book, Eventyr: 12 Tales of Dread and Horror is due for release on 1st June, 2023. We can’t wait to turn off the all the lights - except a reading lamp, of course - and snuggle up with a hot chocolate (or something stronger!) and read some of Andrew’s scary stories while winter rages outside! You can pre-order a copy of Andrew’s latest book here.
Well, that’s it for now folks. Company O is currently in rehearsals for Venus in Fur (16-19 November). Don’t forget to follow us on social media - Facebook and/or Instagram.
