Company O at Fringeworld

Company O has always been unashamedly on the fringe of Perth theatre. You’ll find us performing in attics and art galleries; bespoke shipping containers and bars, community halls and common rooms. Recently, we performed David Ives’ Broadway hit Venus in Fur at Fridays Studio, a photography warehouse space in the Pickle District, West Perth, which helped to provide the New-York-loft vibe for the setting for David Ives’ play.

A man carefully wraps a fur stole around a lady's shoulders.

Venus in Fur was a critical success:

“an electrifying performance that pushes the boundaries of 21st-century sexual politics” (X-Press).

“stunning production… Company O’s finest production to date” (Stage Whispers).

“perfectly executed production” (Arts Hub)

A woman leans on a man's left shoulder. The man, wearing a dog collar, looks pensive.

Venus in Fur explores power in sadomasochistic relationships.

And Codey Finlay, as “Vanda” enjoyed her professional debut as an actor:

“Codey Finley is outstanding as Vanda” (Stage Whispers).

“Codey Finlay's portrayal of Vanda steals the spotlight” (X-Press).

“Codey Finlay was beyond exceptional in her portrayal of Vanda (Arts Hub).

Due to this success, we’ve decided to bring Venus in Fur back to Perth for Fringeworld, 2024. However, the venue will be different. For our Fringeworld season, we’ll be performing at Mossenson Galleries, where we had so much fun earlier this year, (including being nominated for the Fringeworld award!) performing Yasmina Reza’s “Art”.

So, if you missed Venus in Fur at Fridays Studio, make sure you don’t miss it at Mossenson Galleries in February 2024 (Feb 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11). Tickets from Fringeworld.

And don’t forget to follow us on our socials: Facebook and Instagram.
