Germination

The word ‘germination’ risks taking on a new meaning in our ‘COVID’ times - the spreading of germs? But we intend to use it the good old-fashioned way - to mean the sprouting of seeds.

As the sun slowly comes out to play in Perth, Western Australia, and seeds start to germinate, so do we, and our projects!

Last week we began rehearsals for No Exit and we’re confident of bringing you something unique not least because the play will be staged in The QuARTer Gallery, a bespoke shipping container located in The Creative Quarter at Curtin University. You can see a photo of this venue in our previous blog post. Actors Tatiana Dunn, Jessica Huysing, Andrew O’Connell, and Clayton Mitchell (from left to right below) together with Liz Gordon (musician) and designer Justin Neil Mosel-Crossley are at work to bring you this very exciting production of the famous Jean-Paul Sartre play.

PS: Get in quick because - and it couldn’t be more true for this production given the size of the venue - numbers are indeed limited!

Last week we also got to work on another play we’re excited to bring you in around February/March next year (2022). Le Sorelle (“The Sisters”) is the story of two Italian sisters whose already strained relationship gets even more strained by the prospect of one of them getting married to an Australian guy and moving to Australia! Written and directed by Andrew O’Connell, with Assistant Director Jason Jones, and featuring Alexandra Carlotta Del Sorbo, Daniela Foti, and Nicholas Walsh, Le Sorelle will have both English and Italian as spoken languages so we’re currently brainstorming ways both Italian- and non-Italian speaking audiences can enjoy this new Australian-Italian play!

And finally, the short film Death and the Little Girl, starring Grace Garnett and Andre Rodrigues (below), directed by Peter Renzullo, and produce by Red Light Film WA and Seize the Day Studios, will have its premiere on Saturday 9th October at The Backlot (cinema) Perth so we hope to see you there on the red carpet!

So, spring has almost sprung and it’s the same with our projects. We hope to enjoy - and, more importantly, we hope YOU enjoy - the fruits of our labour!
